HOMEMADE COCONUT DEODORANT
I've always been a natural deodorant kind of girl, the supermarket stuff makes the glands under my arms swell up, so I decided to whip up my own batch of coconut deodorant. I didn't have any essential oils, but decided not to worry this time round. If I like how this works, then I'll buy some to put in to my next batch. I had had a play with simply using coconut oil as a deodorant while I was pregnant, but didn't like it so much. Perhaps it was because I was a lot sweater, or perhaps it was because I hadn't blended baking soda and arrowroot powder with it? I'm not sure. I am interested to see how to go with this recipe -
HOMEMADE COCONUT DEODORANT
4 tbsp coconut oil
1/4 C arrowroot powder + 2tbsp
2 tbsp baking soda
1/4 tsp essential oil i.e tea tree oil (optional)
Place all ingredients into a small pan. Heat on low until melted, stirring to combine.
Pour into a sterilised jar.
Coconut oil is a great base to use for deodorant as it is known to kill fungi, yeast and bacteria. Baking soda helps neutralise odour, and the arrowroot powder help absorb moisture. I put some on this morning, and so far, so good. I like now it made my skin feel nice and silky. I will see how it goes over the next few weeks. This was so easy to make, and because you only need to use a small amount, it should last a long time.
