a work in progress

We bought our first home in October last year. Although this was super exciting for us, we bought a house with black & grey walls in the lounge, hallway & bathroom, dark brown walls in the entranceway, toilet, rumpus & master bedroom, and maroon walls in what is now the nursery...yikes!
The front & back gardens were also full of low maintenance, hideous Yukka.

We quickly pulled off the Maroon wallpaper in what has become the nursery (I was pregnant at the time), and set about pulling out the Yukka from the garden - what a job! Never, ever, plant Yukka in your garden.

We have striped the lounge of the black wallpaper, & pulled the brown wallpaper off the walls in the toilet. With a now six month old the going is fairly slow, but with each strip of wallpaper we pull off we move one step closer to transforming our dark house into a light, bright space that we can be proud off.

Above is a 'before' photo of our house on the day of purchase. The front garden is currently a work in progress. I have plans to plant it out in the next week or two, so as soon as it is done I will post an 'after' photo.

Our plans for the exterior of the house -
- Transform the front garden so that it is colourful, bee attracting and full of herbs
- Transform the back garden into a mini orchard, with veggie gardens
- Build an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. This is a project we are hoping to tackle over the summer - soooo excited about this!
- My master plan is to paint the brick exterior of the house. I know that this is a major job so it may be a few years before we even think about doing this.

Our plans for the interior of the house -
- redecorate, redecorate, redecorate!

Let the work begin!
