PROBIOTICS
Miss M has had a nasty ear & throat infection resulting in a raging temperature and a course of prescribed antibiotics. Because antibiotics kill both good & bad bacteria, I've been researching probiotic rich foods, to help the return of good bacteria into her system and to strengthen her immune system.
I've been interested in fermenting my own sauerkraut for a while now, and last week saw this recipe for Golden Sauerkraut. The fermentation process creates a food which is high in probiotics, nutrients & fibre. You can read more about it here. With Miss M's illness, I am putting this at the top of my priority list and hope to make a batch sometime this week.
Other probiotic foods which I am giving her include coconut yoghurt & kefir.
Lets hope for a speedy recovery and no more illness (I can't see that happening with her starting daycare one day a week! :) ).
